McDonald's announced yesterday that they will be hosting their second national free coffee event from September 16 through September 29. During the event, guests can receive a free small McCafe coffee during breakfast hours at participating locations.
The company launched their first free coffee event in March, during which they gave away millions of free cups of coffee in just two weeks. Greg Watson, Senior Vice President of US Menu Innovation, said in a news release "we know our guests are busy, especially during the morning, and a free cup of coffee goes a long way in helping get their days started. That's why we want to treat customers once again so they can taste for themselves just how great their mornings can be with a cup of McCafe coffee and freshly made breakfast."
McDonald's is promoting the event with their "sip and tell" social media campaign, in which they are asking fans to share embarassing "pre-coffee" moments via @McCafe on Twitter using the hashtag #SipandTell. They will also be giving away gifts to select fans who participate in the campaign.
McDonald's plans to relaunch their white chocolate mocha, along with the new white chocolate latte and hot chocolate drinks, for this year's holiday season. They will also be releasing McDonald's McCafe coffee grounds to grocery stores and retailers nationwide starting in early 2015 (more on that here).
